Chair

I have an old dressing table that belonged to my mum when she was a teenager. It’s white with gold handles and to go with it I wanted a gold chair with fluffy fabric. One day, I found just the chair (well almost- it’s a bit uglier than I had in mind – but hey who says no to a freebie?!) on the side of the road and took it home. It was gold with pink fluff. The idea of sitting on said fluff from an unknown previous owner kind of grossed me out a touch so I decided to reupholster.

My original idea was to recover it with Jessica Jones Modern Flora in Blue Green Peapod but when I ordered the fabric I also ordered ‘Green Sprig’ and it won out given our bedroom is mainly green. I’m happy with the result and think short of painting it black and upholstering in velvet I’m not going to be able to make much more of it. Although it probably could do with a fresh coat of gold paint. I did learn fairly quickly that upholstering does not come naturally to me and cutting foam with scissors gives a very messy result!

Please excuse the quality of the photos they were all taken in bad light and the chair is hard to photograph!

wow – that’s so clever! we need to reupholster all our dining chairs because our naughty cats have been using them as scratching posts, but we keep putting it off. i’m inspired now!

Well done Ren, that looks great! You’ve obviously got a bit of skill in the reupholstering area!
