Baby room – in progress
I’ve been very slack updating since Easter. There’s a lot going on here at present: I have three weeks to go with my pregnancy, have finished up work and are now anxious to get the house in order and some things made.
Over Easter we painted the baby’s room. It took more coats of paint than we thought and we still need to arrange the furniture and decorate, but here are progress pictures.
Before – a rather bold shade of yellow that made everything look..yellow!
During – a couple of coats of Dulux Shutterbug, but the yellow still pokes through.
After: No more yellow! Painting the trims, upper walls and ceiling white made a huge difference to the light in this room.
Curtains – the curtains were already in the room. They matched the yellow, but surprisingly they also work with the shutterbug as it picks up the softer colours and tones down the brighter ones. They wouldn’t be my first choice (or 100th) of curtains, but they’re good quality and insulated, so they stay.
I’m looking forward to getting the rest of the room in order now.

May 16, 2011 at 8:43 pmI kinda Ike the yellow in the before pic but the change in the lightness and perceived room size with the new paint colour is amazing! A lot better – and nice and soothing which I imagine is good or a room you want a baby to sleep in!

May 16, 2011 at 9:49 pmThe yellow was quite cheerful and on a sunny day I quite liked it, but I suspect it was painted in the late 90’s so the walls were actually grotty looking up close and the cream trims had that discoloured yellow tinge that enamels get. It feels much cleaner now.

I too quite like those curtains with the new colour scheme, and think they’d go well for a baby boy’s room.
It’s such a shame that new houses don’t have picture rails!
Looking forward to seeing photos with the furniture in it xo
