Jot Magazine – January Mood Board Challenge
As mentioned in my previous post, I really want to try to complete all of the Jot Mood Board Challenges this year, if for nothing but to try some new techniques and use up my stash.
January’s board is quite fresh and relaxed with a feeling of home, and a hint of nautical. I was drawn to the cobalt blue, the whites, and the mixed patterns.
I thought about what I would do with it, but nothing came to mind right away. Then yesterday we spent the day at the seaside suburb of Williamstown. The boys had a great time feeding the seagulls, and when I looked at the mood board again today I realised the colours in Elijah’s top tied in nicely with the blue, fish and chips on the beach were perfect for the nautical leanings, and my quilt on the ground made me think of the mixed patterns, and a touch of homeliness.
I’m using an 8×8 album for these layouts. I used my quilt as inspiration for the grid, then pulled papers and embellishments from my stash that worked with the board and photo. the papers are a mix of Pinkfresh studios, and Amy Tangerine. The idea for the title actually came from Instagram user, therealdairyqueen, who commented on my IG pic with ‘mine mine mine’. Given it’s quite a while since I scrapped a ‘traditional’ layout, I’m pleased with the result.
