Memory Keeping 2017

Hello! Happy New Year,

I’m going to be honest, I’m not really sure why I write these posts as I seldom seem to stick to them, but I do like to look back and see what I committed myself to doing in January once the year gets busy again.

Project Life:

I’m continuing with Project Life this year, but I’m changing album sizes and using a mint Studio Calico 9×12. I’m pretty excited about this size as the 6×8 I started with last year was too small, and the 12×12 is a pain to store, and feels cumbersome to flick through.

One of my big issues with last year’s album, was getting so far behind that I forgot the more meaningful things I wanted to include, photos only tell so much of the story. To make things easier to remember this year I have some 6×4 index cards in a case that I picked up on clearance in Officeworks. I plan to use these to jot down quotes and things I want to document about the week, this way if i get behind I have prompts. I also bought the Project 52 Fresh edition in the Project Life App, and have printed out a lot of cards that will go with anything so I can journal those in real time and slip them in. The latter idea came from my friend Beck Holder.

Week in the Life™:

I haven’t completed a Week in the Life album since 2014 and have two kits and albums sitting here waiting for completion. Because of my lack of priority on this project I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t really enjoy it and will probably give it a miss this year. I never look back on my complete album, nor do I feel inclined to finish 2015 and 2016.

Day in the Life™:

I complete this project twice last year and will endeavour to take part at least once this year in a format yet to be decided.

Jot Magazine Mood Board Challenges:

In 2015 I started to take part in Jot Challenge Mood boards and really enjoyed traditional scrapping again, but that fell by the wayside when I became pregnant. I’m going to pick that up again this year as I still have plenty of room in my 8×8 album for more layouts and it’s a great way for me to use supplies I have floating around that I don’t reach for in my Project Life Album.

Pocket Page Notebook:

Something new and really exciting to me this year, is using The Stamp Spots pocket page notebook to document our garden through the seasons. I always have an abundance of garden photos to scrap but am often reluctant to take up the real estate in my project life album so this feels like a nice way to try something new and get those photos into physical form. It also gives me good reason to actually use my pretty floral supplies.

Subscriptions:

Speaking of supplies; I have subscribed to The Scrappery Kit Club for 6 months and I’m excited to receive those kits and use supplies I wouldn’t necessarily have chosen myself. I also took advantage of the trial studio calico kit and am looking forward to that arriving. I’m not sure I’ll be able to continue with it though due to our dollar.

December Daily:

This is my favourite project of them all, and I look forward to starting that later in the year. In the interim I have some Christmas past albums to work on.

Digital Scrapping:

A few years ago made quite a few digital layouts for various challenges through The Lilypad community. I let digital scrapping go mainly because I no longer had time at the computer, but hopefully I can get back into this.

The Red Wren:

Lastly, I really want to get back into producing digital supplies for this site. I intend to sell some in the longer term, but I’m out of practice at present, so freebies it is. I’ve also been in the process of updating the whole look of this site since February last year, and will hopefully get a change to finish that off now Finley is older and will play with Elijah while I’m on the computer.

Other than that I have some catch up projects on the go which I hope to share shortly; 2016 Project Life, 2016 December Daily, some Christmas past albums are underway,  Elijah’s first two years pre-project life, and Finley’s first year album.
