Stop pinning, start doing.
I spend a lot of time pinning lots of pretty, tasty, clever, and interesting things to Pinterest. What I’m not so good at is coming back to said pins and using them. I’ve seen posts all over the place about ‘stop pinning, start doing’ and thought I might jump on that bandwagon. Of course I have no intention to stop pinning altogether, but it might be nice to be mindful of what I’ve pinned and use those pins from time to time.
What I plan to do is pick a couple of pins each week and use them. It might be a recipe, it might be a craft tutorial. I’ll then blog about the outcome either here or on the other blog depending on the category.
My first three pin projects are going to be:
Scrapbuster block tutorial – I’m currently revamping our back room which includes new cushion covers. I have lots of scrap fabrics left over from the hexie pillow I’m working on and this block will be perfect!
Beef and Bean Chimichangas – Col loves Chimichangas, can’t wait to see if he loves these ones!
Five minute artisan bread – since receiving a Kitchen Aid Mixer for Christmas I keep saying I’ll make this bread. Let’s do it!
I’ll report back on the results as I make them!
While we’re on the topic of Pinterest, I’ve been reading some articles of late that make me a little angry and frustrated. It appears that not only are people not careful when linking to pins, people are now using other people’s pins for their own gain. Below are some articles that may be of interest.

The thing I like about these articles is they articulate the problems without screaming ‘shut pinterest down’. When used responsibly Pinterest is a fantastic site which benefits everyone. So pin with integrity, give credit where credit is due, and don’t use other people’s work for your own gain. Simple really!

February 20, 2012 at 12:52 amThanks Ren, for posting the reminders about the pitfalls of Pinterest. I’d read something a way back and admit I started well but became careless. It’s a minefield- if I was an artist or serious blogger or photographer, I imagine it would be a constant headache.
Also agreeing with the need to do more making and less pinning. It’s all to easy when I’m tired to just plonk in a chair and live vicariously through the marvellous work of Other People.
