Sewing and Craft

Coin Purse

So it’s 2009 and I seem to have hit the ground running in a sewing sense. I’ve sewed three days this week which is more sewing than I’d done for the entire December!

Tonight I decided I was up for the challenge to make a coin purse using a purse frame. Eep! I found this great tutorial on the ‘net and off I went.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing! I wouldn’t say it was total purse fail but I did have trouble with my pattern (I should have just copied the one on the tutorial instead of embellishing!) and I now have a couple of holes to sew up and one side is a bit wider than the other. It’s definitely bigger than a coin purse – I’m thinking of storing my jewellery pliers in it. I’ll definitely try one again but for now I’ll focus my attention back to my handbag designs which fell by the wayside in the latter part of last year.

I do love this fabric. I spotted it at Spotlight tonight- it’s just one of those fat quarters they sell for a couple of dollars. Pretty!

It is a pretty fabric..old fashioned colours. If you hadn’t told us it wasn’t perfect, we wouldn’t have known from the picture.

    That’s a lovely little purse!

The framed purses are a bit fiddly, aren’t they? I used the same tutorial to make up a purse as a Christmas present. I wish the frame came with a pattern – it would make life much easier :)

Thanks Joanne and Jo! I tried to photograph it from it’s ‘best’ angles!

Jo- how did yours turn out? It is the one on your photostream @ Flickr? If so, it’s gorgeous!
