Life and Outings, Memory Keeping

Project Life – Week 36

For this week I experimented a bit more with digital design. I purchased the Dear Lizzy dgital Neapolitan kit and used that as the base for my layout. I then added a couple of my own cards, text, and photos. I'm really pleased with how this one turned out, but I'm not so pleased with the quality of the photos.

I'm having my photos printed at Officeworks. As far as price and convenience goes, they're great! However the machines they use crop off some of the photos. When I received them borders were missing, and the 3×4 cards no longer had rounded edges. I estimate I'm losing nearly a 1/4 inch off the sides, but not consistently, some sides may lose more than others. The colours are also a bit off, but I can live with that. After this happened I printed out some cards on my printer and discovered they look much better than printing them as photos, so my future plan will be to print the cards onto cardstock at home, print the photo at Officeworks, then trim them to size and attach them to the cards. A bit more fiddly but at least I won't have to worry about this cropping business!
