Wee Play Quilt

Here’s a project that’s been in progress for a rather long time! I first posted about the Wee Play charm squares over two years ago, I decided what to do with them a week or so later, then I lost interest thinking it would probably look a bit silly as a table topper and put it away. I pulled it out again earlier in the year, decided that now I have a child it would make a nice little lap quilt, and after some months of procrastinating, here it is!

It isn’t perfect, I don’t claim to be a quilter, I’m just not quite ‘precise’ enough. Some of my seams didn’t match well so I used a quilting stitch on my new machine to machine quilt the vertical seams. It came up really well and the mismatches aren’t so obvious. The binding is a bought bias binding. I read after I’d bought 5 metres that it’s not ideal to bind quilts with this type of bias binding but I had it, so I forged ahead. I really like the look of the black and white stripe.

Overall I’m pleased with it, and it looks really sweet as a throw on Elijah’s little couch. The perfect quilt to snuggle under for story time.

It’s very sweet. I’m not terribly precise either but I don’t let that stop me from enjoying quilting!
