Nasturtiums gone wild!

I really like nasturtiums. I’ve tried to grow them a few times hoping to achieve that lazy nasturtium look where they gently trail over a planter or a path but they always were eaten by our resident army of snails or died. That was before I discovered the secret. A few months back I planted some tiny little seedlings in the veggie patches which contain a good quality mushroom compost. Well. Let’s just say they love it. I’ll let the pictures do the talking:     {Blogtoberfest Day  ...

In the garden

Not much crafty happening here today, unless you count pre-washing fabric! Instead I’ll leave you with my current favourite view of the front garden. I love the spring bulbs in front and the herb and veggie patches behind. If you’d like to read more about what’s happening in the garden why not  ...

Toybox refurbishment

I still have my childhood toybox. Unfortunately years of living in a damp cupboard had left it covered in mould and looking a bit shabby. I do love the 70’s brightness that it was, but it was far too grotty to remain in original condition. I did try to save tweety but it wasn’t meant to be. I  ...

All is well here at Rose Cottage. We’ve settled in nicely as our little family of four (the cat counts) and are slowly developing a routine. By routine I mean a spare half hour here and there where I can put on a load of washing, have a shower or eat. Getting out of pajamas is still optional at  ...

Tomatoes – Heirloom vs Supermarket

Due to my un-relenting morning sickness, we weren’t well prepared for planting season in Spring 2010. We did build a new vegetable bed, but we hadn’t raised seeds to put in it, nor was I interested in going out and buying seedling. We just accepted that this year would be a relatively  ...
